Tevian Publishes a Habr Article on Synthetic Identities and KYC

Back to news
Synthetic identities, deepfakes, KYC, and digital identity fraud

We published a new article on Habr, “The Person Who Never Existed: How AI Creates Synthetic Identities.”

The article looks at how generative models are changing digital identity fraud and biometric verification. Modern tools can create synthetic faces, alter documents, replace individual image elements, and scale attacks against KYC systems.

We also explain why successful document recognition, face matching, and liveness checks do not necessarily mean that a real person is interacting with the system. To prevent fraud, KYC platforms need to consider additional signals and combine biometric verification with antifraud checks.

The article covers how synthetic identities are used during digital onboarding, what vulnerabilities arise in remote customer verification, and why no single verification method is enough to protect against modern attacks.
